Chalet Les Marmottes
A family-run chalet in an old French farmhouse with spacious accommodation
This family-run chalet has been tastefully converted from an ancient 18th century farmhouse using most of the original old wood for beams and floors. These are made of Larch (Melez) from the forests that cover this area of the Ecrins National Park. All the woodwork has been prepared by a local ski instructor who trained in the prestigious “école boulle” in Paris.
The chalet itself is just 5 minutes walk from the main lift system in Chantemerle. This makes it particularly convenient for an amble back at the end of a tiring and hopefully pleasurable days’ skiing. The additional benefits are the convenience of being near bars, shops and restaurants in a village location.
The very welcoming lounge has comfortable seating, a fabulous open log fire, beamed ceiling and open wooden stairs to first floor. There is also an honesty bar.
The five spacious en suite bedrooms all have a theme, either famous mountain names or ski resorts. One has access to a balcony and all have magnificent mountain views. Some have original works of art done by a family friend.
The wood features and cladding in the dining room make it particularly welcoming with its large oak table with seating for 12 diners and an extra one for additional guests. On the one side you can see Karin working in her kitchen and on the other side there are magnificent mountain views towards Briançon.
A warm welcome awaits you from Karin and Denis Lucas who will look after your needs throughout your stay. You will most certainly enjoy their hospitality both before dinner with aperitifs and canapés in front of an open log fire and then Karin’s well known French cooking but with an English twist. Apart from being an excellent English speaking ski instructor, Denis is extremely knowledgeable about wines in general as he also sells wine to numerous hotels, restaurants and private clients.
Early enquiries essential to secure popular weeks.
