Driving to Serre Chevalier: Road conditions

Driving in France in winter is not difficult where autoroutes are much quieter than in the UK. Continental countries generally keep their roads clear of snow. However snow chains should be carried in the mountains and in snowy conditions you will be required to fit them unless you have spiked or studded tyres. Chains can be bought at most autoroute service stations or supermarkets.

Driving to Serre Chevalier: Driving time

Serre Chevalier can now be reached in approximately 10-12 hours driving via the extensive French autoroutes from Calais to Grenoble via Lyon. There is then approximately 100km of the N91 to Serre Chevalier via the Col du Lautaret.

We will advise on a route to suit your needs and provide route maps.
